Traditional fire lighting workshop

The use of fire was one of the first and most significant steps that distinguished humans from other animals. Fire was used for protection from cold and wild climates, for cooking food, and as a source of light. Humans also used fire to make wooden and stone tools, to preserve and dry food and fat, to hunt, to influence the soil, to purify water, and much more. The ability to light a fire, therefore, contributed in an unprecedented way to human survival and brought about significant changes in our cultural life.
In the workshop, we will learn about the meanings of lighting a fire and practice the various techniques for lighting a fire that were used by ancient cultures. We will experience ancient practical knowledge in a fun, group experience.
